Got my shipment of Siren Eye Shadow samples today and I have to say that I absolutely love the shadows. First off the sample baggies have more than enough to be a good sample. Considering that these are loose pigments you dont need very much to have a complete look. Second the base I used, Queen Wasp has this beautiful yellow/ golden shimmer to it its not too dramatically pigmented as i thought it... would be but then I remembered that it is a shimmer. (although I would love to try "warped" for the more matte color) Third the crease, Funky Sh*t the name itself is genious! The color is Shimmer pink with a hint of purplish tone. I noticed you can put just a bit of it for a very light sheen pink or can be layered on for a darker dramatic effect. And last highlight, China Girl as a highlight I did not put on very much but just enough to give a good highlight under the brow and makes the other colors POP. China Girl is a white with a pearl-esque shimmer to it. All in all the Siren Eyeshadows are great. I have taken some pictures but they do not do the colors justice. I would definately recommend These eyeshadows for the make-up junkies :) -DeVonna

Lucky Socks and Psychology?
Lucky Socks and Psychology?
By: Devonna Chapa
One can only wonder why people link a good day with an accessory such as socks. Lucky bracelet, lucky shirt, lucky pants, and lucky socks; individuals wear them in result to having a good day or landing a job, but has anyone ever wondered why humans think such a silly thing? I’m sure that accessories cannot really make you have a good day. Well, how to find the answer to this superstitious behavior lies within psychology and the findings of the American psychologist B. F. Skinner.
Many psychologists have contributed their fair share of theories, experiments, and research. A specific psychologist that has contributed to the understanding of human behavior is B. F. Skinner. Skinner is known for his 1948 experiment with pigeons and operant conditioning. Operant conditioning is the type of learning in which behaviors are emitted [in the presence of stimuli] to earn rewards or avoid punishment (Morris & Maisto, 2002). With this experiment flourished a known psychology term called superstitious behavior. Superstitious behavior is an action that is followed closely by a rein forcer and the subject tends to repeat the action (Morris & Maisto, 2002). Skinner came upon this term by performing an experiment where he placed a bird in a cage that contained only a food hopper (Morris & Maisto, 2002). During random times Skinner would drop grains into the food hopper. He found that the pigeon would perform certain actions before the food was dropped such as hopping around, standing on one foot, or strutting around with a stretched neck (Morris & Maisto, 2002). Skinner had no means to drop the grains in while the pigeon engaged in these actions; it was pure coincidence. It was coincidence that the food appeared when the action was repeated (Morris & Maisto, 2002). Skinner then labeled this behavior as superstitious hence the term superstitious behavior.
Skinners discovery or superstitious behavior can also be implemented in humans. Humans may engage in superstitious behavior if they happen to link a certain accessory to a positive reinforcement such as a good day. Reinforcement could be positive or negative; reinforcers or stimulus that follow a behavior and increases the likelihood that the behavior will be repeated (Morris & Maisto, 2002). During the experiment with the pigeons Skinner did not use punishment to get the pigeons to perform the voluntary actions. A punishment is any event whose presence decreases the likelihood that the ongoing behavior will recur (Morris & Maisto, 2002). Skinner simply discovered the spontaneous reaction of the pigeon and linked it to human behavior.
Skinner’s research has contributed to the understanding of human behavior. Skinner has also helped us understand the meaning of “a lucky bracelet or lucky socks”.

2011 The New Year
2010 was an extremely rocky year. Toward the end of 2010 my family had felt that the year needed to be over already from all of the negative things going on in our lives. Then just one random Tuesday; December 28, 2010 I was sleeping and the boys were doing their own thing, and my mom and Richard were upstairs. That is when we received the call; the Gilroy Police Department called to let me know that they had found our car. We were grateful! The radio was taken out of the car, the car seat was taken, and all of the paperwork was cleaned out; but the car still runs and we are grateful for that. So the year ended great and we started the new year with a BANG :). New years eve we decided to let loose and enjoy ourselves after the little one fell asleep. We had a blast, dancing, drinking, having fun, laughing, and more drinking. I remained stable and am able to remember the night but I cannot say the same for my boyfriend lol. He ended up sleeping in the bathroom. From there on we have been having a decent year. My depression was getting the best of me and I was feeling distant from my family but a dream has changed my views and literally scared the depression out of me lol. My dream [nightmare] will be another blog. This was just a quick update on the New Year. So happy New Year to all may this year be better than the last and may you all be well.

December 7, 2010: The Day Our Car Was Stolen
Tuesday December 7, 2010. . . . Felix woke up to move the car for Luciano and he looks outside and THE CAR IS MISSING. He runs into the room where I am still asleep and tells me the car is gone. I did not want to believe it at first so I looked outside hoping my mom or Richard moved the car. To my luck the car was not to be seen. I called my mom and asked her if she seen the car when she left to work and she told me no. She thought I had left to be alone again. A couple days ago Felix and I were arguing and I am tired of it so I drove off and parked for two hours and just cried. So she thought I was just in my “alone” phase again. I obviously wasn’t because I was home nice and asleep. Someone stole our car, the car that I paid for, the car that I loved so much, the car I was proud of. I was devastated and called the police. I made a police report and that’s all I could do. I called my insurance company hoping to hear some good news and just got pounded in the head for only having liability insurance. To top it all off my sons ($200) only car seat was in the car along with Felix’s school tool belt. Also my high school graduation tassel was in there L. Hopefully someday those people who stole our car will get what is coming to them (karma). We have no transportation of our own. I honestly am devastated my heart hurts. I try to look at the positive and see that my son and family are all well and safe but our car was like a part of our family. I feel like we will never get out of this financial bind or move out on our own.
Something weird. . . A couple days before our car was stolen I told Felix he needed to get the presents we bought for our son out of the trunk of the car because I had a dream that the car was stolen with all the presents in them. Premonition?
Inconsiderate: I do not see how someone can be so inconsiderate! This close to the holidays, the holidays of giving, generosity, family, and all that good stuff. They do not know our financial problems they don’t know that I bought my first car. They just don’t care that someone feelings will get hurt. Such cruel people in this world. . . . . . . Its pretty sad; no it’s extremely sad.
The description of the car is as followed: 1996 Honda Accord Ex, Black, 4 Door, Moon Roof, License plate 6CHY425, dent on the right rear passenger door, fading paint on trunk and top.
